New Parking Deck

Construction of a new 514-car, three-story parking deck began on Thursday, Jan. 5, at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. The new parking deck will be built over half of the existing Obermeyer Street surface parking lot. It will be constructed by Donley Construction Company of Richmond, Va., at a cost of $6.3 million.

The Obermeyer parking area directly behind Curtis Hall and Bluford Library will not be available from Jan. 5 to the end of this semester. Alternate parking is available in the Luther Street parking area adjacent to the new Alumni-Foundation Event Center.

Temporary parking also is available off Daniel Street directly behind Webb Hall and in the area adjacent to the Webb Hall parking area facing Benbow Road. The two temporary parking areas will be available Monday morning, Jan. 9.

Access to the Obermeyer parking area directly behind Holland Hall is available for parking Jan. 5 throughout the construction project.

North Carolina A&T State University officials apologize for the construction inconvenience; however, it is needed to meet the fall 2006 completion date of providing additional new parking for N.C. A&T students, faculty and staff. A&T Police & Public Safety will assist with directing traffic flow to the new temporary parking areas.
