Rosa Marie Warren, a journalism student in N.C. A&T's journalism and mass communication department, recently produced a multimedia project that was showcased recently at a growing multimedia Web site used by a number of nationally-known online news outlets.
Warren produced an interactive map after researching where crimes occurred at stores across the nation on
Black Friday. Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, is considered the biggest shopping day of the year.
The markers on Warren's map will link you to information about incidents that occurred in stores in selected cities on Black Friday and through that weekend.
Umapper featured Warren's map as its "map of the week." It can be found at http://www.umapper.com/blog/?p=1860.
Warren learned her skills after taking a multimedia class taught by Kim Smith, Ph.D., an assistant professor in the department of journalism and mass communication.
According to Umapper, Boston.com and National Geographic are among its clients. |
